Frequently Asked Questions
What is Postnatal Yoga?
Postnatal Yoga is a movement and breathing practice designed specifically to support the postpartum period in a safe and mindful way, with a focus on strengthening the abdominal wall and pelvic floor.
It combines adapted postures, breathing techniques, relaxation, and practices to reconnect with your body and your baby. It helps to ease common postpartum discomforts, strengthen the body, and improve posture.
Babies are welcome in every class, and in many sessions they actively participate, as we also learn baby massage and yoga sequences. These practices can support sleep, digestion, early bonding, calmness, and shared wellbeing.
How long after birth can I attend postnatal yoga?
My classes are designed for up to 24 months after birth. The postnatal period does not end at 40 days. The physical, hormonal, and emotional recovery of the maternal body can extend well beyond the first year. During this time:
- The body is still reorganising: the pelvic floor, abdominal wall, and joints require progressive work to regain strength and stability.
- Movement and posture patterns change: carrying the baby, breastfeeding, babywearing, or spending long hours sitting create tensions that are best prevented and corrected.
- Energy levels and sleep may still be affected: especially if breastfeeding continues or there are night wakings.
- The connection with one’s own body is still being rebuilt: and postnatal yoga offers a safe space to support this reconnection.
That is why my classes are designed to support mothers up to 24 months after birth, with practices adapted to each stage and individual need.

What equipment do I need?
You’ll only need a few simple items, many of which you may already have at home, or can easily adapt:
✔ Yoga mat
✔ Small tennis ball
✔ Large ball (fitball type)
✔ Strap (a long scarf works too)
✔ Yoga block or a chair
✔ Bolster or a firm cushion
✔ Large blanket
✔ Resistance band
✔ Light weights (1–2 kg)
If you don’t have some of these, I’ll suggest easy alternatives so you can still take part fully.
